Abstract

The Human Resilience Library (HRL) is introduced as an innovative concept to promote counselling services while strengthening community-based support. The initiative positions HRL as the first stop for individuals seeking help, healing, and guidance in building resilience. Central to this effort is the engagement of volunteers from orang kampung and youth community champions, who serve as Resilience Ambassadors to bridge professional services with grassroots needs. The pilot involved six communities representing villages, associations, and institutions, with active participation from 63 undergraduate students acted as “Resilience Ambassador”. Within this framework, the HRL facilitated the design and delivery of more than 20 resilience interventions, ranging from psychoeducation and group counselling to creative and culturally responsive activities. The findings highlighted strong community feedback, demonstrating openness to seek first-line support through HRL and appreciation for its accessible, people-centred approach. This early evidence suggests the HRL has significant potential as a gateway for counselling services, while empowering communities to recognize, normalize, and embrace mental health support. In conclusion, the Human Resilience Library offers a sustainable pathway to enhancing wellbeing, fostering resilience, and cultivating a culture of helpseeking at the community level. It marks a promising step toward integrating professional expertise with local wisdom in shaping resilient societies.
