| dc.description | The wealth of art and cultural heritage that existed today is the result of the legacy of previous generations, our ancestors, and each art and culture heritage symbolize our identity. However, today's society seems to be unaware and underestimate the potential of this cultural heritage. In fact, the existence of this cultural heritage is increasingly threatened due to the rapid development that is taking place. Therefore, this study examined the perception of the community in Sarawak as well as the potential in the effort to transform the old DUN heritage building into a Performing Arts Center. A total of 206 respondents answered the questionnaire and three informants were interviewed. Quantitative and qualitative approaches were used to analyze the obtained data. The results of the study showed that the majority of the community agreed that this transformation is important in avoiding the neglect of the area and the needs to be preserved for continuous usage in the future. Meanwhile, the results of the interview responses from the three informants found that strategic planning in providing activities to the community needs to be planned wisely. This should be implemented, as an effort to educate the community regarding the importance of preservation and conservation of heritage buildings. | |
