Abstract
Description
Cryptography has become a part of the digital daily life that goes unnoticed by most. This project proposes a proof-of-concept educational game, Crypto Chronica, to explore the potential of game-based learning in teaching cryptography fundamentals while fostering interest in cybersecurity. The game employs a progression system that mirrors the historical evolution of encryption techniques, making the concepts more accessible to students through a three-phase Learn-Practice-Challenge approach. Through designed gameplay mechanics and puzzle-solving elements, players will learn encryption and decryption techniques including classical ciphers such as substitution and transposition methods, with built-in tools for frequency analysis and pattern recognition. The project will be developed following an iterative approach, incorporating software engineering principles. The expected outcome is a functional prototype that demonstrates how game-based learning can effectively introduce cryptography concepts in an engaging manner. This proof-of-concept aims to establish a foundation for future development of educational games in cryptography education
