Abstract
Description
The poultry industry plays a critical role in meeting the global demand for protein, with broiler farms focusing on maximizing productivity, minimizing costs, and ensuring flock health. However, many mid-sized farms, including Unigold Sdn Bhd, still rely on manual record-keeping methods, which lead to inefficiencies, data inaccuracies, and challenges in proactive decision-making. This project aims to develop a digital inventory and mortality tracking system, PoultryPlus, specifically tailored to the operational needs of Unigold’s poultry farms. The system, designed using an Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology, integrates a React-based frontend, a Django backend, and a SQL database to create a user-friendly, scalable, and secure solution. Key functionalities include real-time tracking of critical performance indicators such as Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) and mortality rates, streamlined record-keeping for chick arrivals, feed usage, and vaccination schedules, and robust data analytics to support proactive resource planning and decisionmaking. By replacing manual processes with a centralized digital platform, PoultryPlus aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve data accuracy, and empower Unigold’s management and workers with actionable insights. Beyond addressing the challenges faced by Unigold, this system serves as a model for mid-sized broiler farms seeking to adopt technology for sustainable poultry farming practices.
