The usage of social media has become increasingly prevalent, leading to a continuous rise in information sharing which can have both positive and negative impacts on society. In this project a forest-fire model is developed to study the dynamics of the information spread on social media. The factors that influence the spread are the user activity (UA), follower-following ratio (FF), and topic significance (TS). These factors are combined using weighted parameters to determine the probability of information spreading between users. Results show that the model exhibits accuracy when the network’s time window connection is synchronous with the time segment of the observed dataset. Additionally, Sobol sensitivity analysis reveals that the spread of the model is heavily influenced by the weight corresponding to the topic significance (TS). The findings provide insights into the behavioural dynamics of online information spread and highlight the importance of content relevance in social media.
