Abstract
Description
The "Omen Birds of Borneo" exhibition at the Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuching highlights the cultural and ecological significance of Borneo's bird species. While aiming to provide an immersive experience, the exhibition faces challenges that hinder its educational and interactive potential. Overlapping bird sounds create confusion, misaligned display elements disrupt visual flow, and poorly illuminated text further impairs information accessibility. To address these issues, this project proposes the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) technology. AR offers a dynamic solution by providing personalized auditory experiences, real-time alignment of bird information with interactive 3D models, and enhanced visual clarity. Visitors can use the AR app to access detailed information, view high-quality 3D representations of birds, and hear synchronized audio through their own devices thus eliminating overlapping noises. This project aims to transform the "Omen Birds of Borneo" exhibition into an engaging, accessible, and educational experience. The AR-enhanced platform not only improves visitor interaction but also serves as a tool to promote awareness of Borneo’s unique bird species and their cultural heritage. Ultimately, this initiative contributes to enhancing the museum's appeal and preserving local biodiversity.
