Abstract

Description

The psychological well-being of breast cancer survivors, particularly among university students, is an area that warrants significant attention due to the unique challenges faced by this demographic. This research explores the intricate experiences of young female university students in Malaysia who have survived breast cancer, aiming to understand how they balance their academic responsibilities with their health struggles. Through a comprehensive qualitative study, employing semi-structured interviews, this research delves into the emotional and psychological impacts of breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery among six university students. The study identifies key themes such as initial diagnosis, treatment and recovery, emotional responses, accessible support systems, and self-coping mechanisms. By examining these aspects, the research provides valuable insights into the coping strategies and support networks that enhance the psychological well-being of breast cancer survivors in an academic setting. The findings underscore the importance of tailored support structures and interventions to address the specific needs of this vulnerable group, advocating for a more inclusive and supportive university environment.
