Abstract
Description
This study aimed to identify the effect of physical activity on working memory performance, which mainly focus on the verbal and visuospatial working memory performance based on the total number of correct recalled and the total time taken. This research is utillize quantitative method with quasi experimental design. The participants were 30 undergraduate students from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). The study used 2 working memory test, Reading Span Test to measure the verbal working memory performance while Corsi Blocks Test to measure the visuospatial working memory performance. Independent T-Test and Mann-Whitney U test is used to analyze the results. The findings showed that the physical activity group had performed well for verbal working memory test based on the total number of correct recalled and the total time taken. The physical activity group also have a good performance than the non-physical activity group in visuospatial working memory test in term of total number of correct recalled, but there is no significant differences between both group in term of total time taken. This study also explained the limitations of study, the implications and the recommendation for future research.
