Abstract
Description
The study examines the impact of technological innovation on economic competitiveness in China from 1990 to 2022. As global economies shift towards knowledge-intensive and technology-driven models, innovation has become a critical determinant of national productivity, export performance, and long-term economic growth. China's significant investments in R&D, patent activity, and high-tech industries provide a compelling case to examine how innovation contributes to macroeconomic competitiveness. The research uses annual time-series data and various econometric techniques to analyze key variables such as R&D expenditure, patent applications, total factor productivity, industry productivity, GDP growth rate, and high-technology exports. The empirical findings show a statistically significant positive impact of technological innovation on economic competitiveness in the long run, with a unidirectional causal relationship between innovation indicators and GDP growth and high-tech export performance. The study emphasizes the strategic importance of sustained investment in innovation capacity as a source of technological advancement and a fundamental pillar of national economic strategy.
