Abstract

Description

This study investigates the relationship between work-life balance, leadership, work environment, and effective communication on employee engagement among retail employees in Sri Aman, Malaysia. This study sought to determine the elements that have a major impact on employee engagement in the retail industry, given the growing concerns about low engagement levels and excessive turnover. 66 employees were given a structured questionnaire as part of a quantitative study approach. The results showed that employee engagement is significantly positively correlated with all four variables: work-life balance, leadership, work environment, and communication, with the work environment being the most important element. These findings give retail managers information on what they should concentrate on in order to improve employee engagement, increase productivity, and lower turnover. The application of the Balanced Scorecard Model and the Social Exchange Theory to the retail scenario in Malaysia is another way that the study adds to the body of current material.
