Abstract

Description

In response to the global demand for sustainability, this study investigates the relationship between Green Training and Development (T&D) and Organizational Sustainability. As a key component of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM), green T&D seeks to encourage employees to be environmental consciousness and act sustainably. The study targeted 86 academicians from two faculties at public university located in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. The data was gathered using an online survey distributed through Google Forms. Quantitative methods such as descriptive analysis and Spearman’s correlation analysis were employed to determine the relationship between green T&D and seven dimensions of sustainability: Continuous Improvement and Learning, Economic Viability, Social Responsibilility, Environmental Stewardship, Governance and Ethic, Integration and Alignment and Stakeholder Engagement. The findings indicated statistically significant positive associations between green T&D and six of the seven dimensions, with economic viability and environmental stewardship showing the strongest correlations. However, the relationship between green T&D and social responsibility was not statistically significant. These findingss highlight the crucial role of green-oriented training initiatives in promoting long-term sustainability within organizations. Practically, the study provides valuable insights for HR practioners and policymakers seeking to integrate sustainability in their training programs and organizational culture.
