While researchers delve into the negative effect of career growth towards work engagement, extensive research should be done on the positive effect of work engagement. This descriptive-correlational study aimed to examine the effect of career growth on work engagement among Sarawak civil servants. A total of 63 employees, from 4 Sarawak’s public organizations, were selected using a non-probability sampling method. The survey instrument was adopted from the Career Growth Scale and Work Engagement Scale. The reliability of the scales was confirmed, with Cronbach's alpha values exceeding 0.7 for all variables. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between career growth dimensions and work engagement. Notably, professional ability development has the most dominant influence on work engagement, surpassing the impact of career goal progress. These findings provide valuable insights into the factors influencing work engagement among Sarawak civil servants, offering a pathway to develop a more comprehensive training plans for employees in the public sector.
