Abstract

Description

This study explores the relationship between work-life balance, workforce diversity, and employee engagement among Generation Z employees in Kuching, Sarawak. Grounded in Social Exchange Theory, the research posits that organizational support in the form of work-life balance and inclusive diversity practices fosters higher employee engagement. A quantitative correlational design was employed, with data collected from 92 Generation Z employees using a structured five likert scale questionnaire. Spearman's rank correlation analysis revealed significant positive relationships between employee engagement and work-life balance (ρ = 0.390, p < 0.001), education background diversity (ρ = 0.603, p < 0.001), gender diversity (ρ = 0.505, p < 0.001), and ethnicity diversity (ρ = 0.318, p = 0.001). The findings highlight the importance of flexible work policies and inclusive practices in enhancing engagement among Generation Z. The study contributes to the literature by addressing gaps in generational and regional contexts, offering practical implications for HR practitioners and organizational leaders to tailor strategies that align with the values and expectations of this emerging workforce.
