Abstract

Description

This study aims to examine the relationship between employee engagement factors and employee retention in the oil and gas industry in Selangor, Malaysia. The engagement components investigated in this research include job satisfaction, career growth, rewards, and leadership. These factors were selected based on Kahn’s Engagement Model and the Social Exchange Theory (SET), which highlight the importance of psychological and reciprocal commitment in employee-employer relationships. The study involved a total of 155 respondents from selected oil and gas companies using a self-administered questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. A pilot test involving 30 respondents was conducted to ensure the reliability of the instrument. The data collected was analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.0, applying both descriptive and inferential analysis, including Spearman’s Rank Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between the employee engagement factors and employee retention. The results indicate that companies should prioritize these engagement factors to improve retention rates and maintain a stable and motivated workforce. Therefore, the objectives of the study were successfully achieved.
