This study investigates the relationship between workforce diversity and employee performance within the construction industry in Kuching, Sarawak. In the context of Malaysia's multiracial and multicultural society, understanding how diversity influences organizational outcomes is vital. The research focuses on four key dimensions of workforce diversity (gender, age, ethnicity, and work experience) as independent variables, and their impact on employee performance as the dependent variable. Grounded in Social Identity Theory (SIT) and the Resource-Based View (RBV), the study conceptualizes diversity as both a source of group identity and a strategic resource. A quantitative, cross-sectional research design was employed, with data collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 80 employees across construction companies. Statistical analyses, including correlation and multiple regression, were conducted using SPSS version 31 to examine the strength and nature of relationships. The findings reveal significant correlations between certain diversity dimensions and employee performance, with some factors exhibiting stronger predictive power than others. This research contributes to the theoretical understanding of diversity in an Asian context and offers practical insights for human resource practitioners and policymakers seeking to manage diversity for improved organizational performance. It also identifies gaps for future exploration, particularly in terms of managing dynamic diversity in multicultural industries and sectors.
