This study aimed to investigate the effect of time of day on short-term memory performance, focusing on both verbal and visual memory. Conducted with 20 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development at UNIMAS, the research employs an experimental approach utilizing within-group design to measure performance at different times of day. Morning sessions were conducted between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., while evening sessions took place between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Participants were subjected to tasks assessing verbal memory through word recall and visual memory through shape recognition. The study aims to identify potential differences in memory performance attributable to circadian rhythms, contributing to a broader understanding of cognitive functions influenced by time of day. The findings are expected to offer insights that could impact daily routines and various professional sectors, particularly those requiring optimal cognitive performance at specific times.
