Abstract

Description

This research examines the impact of talent management practices on the job performance of police officers in Abu Dhabi, focusing on the moderating role of business analytics. The study aims to fill a gap in existing literature by examining how talent management practices affect performance in the context of the UAE's police force. Specifically, the research explores how talent attraction, retention, learning and development, and career management influence employee engagement, which in turn affects job performance. The study also examines the role of business analytics in strengthening the relationship between talent management practices and employee engagement. The framework is grounded in Social Exchange Theory, Dynamic Capability Theory, and Employee Engagement Theory, providing a comprehensive understanding of these dynamics. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing a structured questionnaire administered to 455 police officers in Abu Dhabi, with 383 valid responses analyzed. Data were analyzed using regression and moderation techniques to test the relationships between talent management practices, employee engagement, and job performance. The findings indicate that talent attraction, retention, learning and development, and career management have a significant impact on employee engagement, which in turn influences job performance. Business analytics was found to moderate these relationships selectively, being significant in the links between talent attraction, learning and development, and career management with employee engagement, but not in the relationship between talent retention and engagement. The results underscore the importance of talent management practices in enhancing job performance among Abu Dhabi Police officers. Business analytics plays a role in enhancing these outcomes, although its effect varies across different talent management dimensions. This study provides a model linking talent management practices to performance outcomes and suggests avenues for future research, particularly in applying business analytics within law enforcement agencies across diverse cultural and organizational settings.
