| dc.description | As the personal care industry develops quickly, public concern related to harmful chemicals in skincare and baby products, including mercury, parabens, and phthalates, has increased due to their connection to endocrine disruption and long-term health hazards. Despite increased awareness, consumers frequently find it challenging to comprehend complex ingredient lists, requiring an increase of accessible approaches. This project presents ToxiScan, an user-friendly smartphone application intended to identify and evaluate hazardous components in skincare, body p and baby care products. The system, developed using the Waterfall Model, integrates data from regulatory entities such as the EU Cosmetic Directive and PubChem to provide real-time toxicity assessments via ingredient scanning. The application emphasizes accessibility and simplicity, especially for people with health concerns and parents. User preferences and interface design were guided by survey data, ensuring relevance and effectiveness. Usability testing showed favorable results: Functionality (90% pass rate), Efficiency (86.7%), Usability (83.3%), and Reliability (80%), proving that ToxiScan effectively addresses user requirements and promotes safer product selections through reliable and clear ingredient analysis. | |
