Abstract
Description
In the current digital era, social media is not only a platform for communication but also serves various roles that influence employees emotionally, psychologically, and professionally. The objective of this study is to examine how social media affects employee wellbeing, improves work performance, and the strategies used to manage it effectively. A qualitative approach was used through semi-structured interviews with seven informants working in a private sector organization. The findings reveal that social media positively contributes to employee wellbeing by promoting social connection and emotional support, reducing stress, and boosting motivation. Furthermore, it enhances work performance by improving communication, supporting skill development, and enabling networking and business promotion. The study also identifies strategies at both the individual and organizational levels to ensure responsible and effective use of social media in the workplace. These include practicing self-discipline, purposeful use, restricting access to non-work-related content, and centralizing communication platforms. The results of this study suggest that when used ethically and strategically, social media can support both employee wellbeing and workplace productivity
