The influence of sleep quality on psychological health has been researched worldwide, but less is known about Malaysian university students, particularly on student’s mode of commuting. The purpose of the study is to understand the sleep quality and psychological well- being among Malaysian undergraduate students. The sleep quality and psychological well- being of Malaysian undergraduate students are investigated in this study using a cross-sectional approach. Convenience sampling was used to gather data from 110 students who completed an online self-reported questionnaire containing demographic data, Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale (WEMWBS) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The relationships are further investigated using statistical methods, Pearson Correlation, Multiple Regression, and Independent Sample T-Test. The study found a weak, significant negative correlation between sleep quality and psychological well-being. There was no significant difference in the quality of sleep between students living on and off campus. On campus, however, students' psychological well-being was much greater. Only subjective sleep quality was shown to be significantly correlated with psychological well-being. The results of the study on undergraduate students in Malaysia show that inadequate sleep harms their psychological well- being and demonstrate how students have normalised bad sleeping patterns. Improving the quality of students' sleep is essential to improving their general well-being.
