Pupils with Special Educational Needs (MBPK) in the category of Intellectual Disability (KUI) can benefit if they are allowed to learn according to their preferred learning style. This study aims to explore the understanding of Middle School Teachers in Kuching, Sarawak to deal with the diversity of MBPK KUI learning styles in the Special Integration Education Program (PPKI) and further build a teaching and learning model that can deal with the various MBPK KUI teaching styles in the Inclusive Education Program (PPI) Specific Vocational Skills, Basic Bread. A qualitative approach was chosen to carry out the study through the analysis of related documents and semi-structured interviews that were conducted with 10 teachers in PPI classes in 5 selected national secondary schools in the Kuching division. Meanwhile, observation is carried out to see the effectiveness of the teaching model that has been built. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. The findings of the study show that teachers do not have a clear understanding of the diversity of MBPK KUI learning styles at PPKI. In fact, the teaching method used is also more focused on group work and discussion which is more beneficial to auditory students than reading/writing, kinesthetic and visual students. Study participants also acknowledged the advantages of using various teaching methods can help more students master an activity or topic, however, it demands time and burdens teachers to design and plan lessons. Meanwhile, teaching techniques used by teachers to adapt to the diversity of learning styles are more likely to benefit kinesthetic students and auditory students than visual students. Finally, the observation shows that the teaching model built is effective in dealing with the vi diversity of learning styles. The study shows the importance of addressing the needs of diverse learning styles among MBPK KUI at PPI.
