This study examines the influence of leadership-supported instrumental and emotional support on organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) within the Malaysian public service sector, framed through an Islamic perspective. Drawing upon Al-Ghazali's Islamic leadership theory, the research aims to determine whether tangible and psychological support mechanisms significantly shape employee discretionary behaviours that contribute to organizational effectiveness. A cross-sectional quantitative design was employed, utilizing a purposive sampling technique to collect data from 114 employees working in a Malaysian public service department. Data were analysed using SPSS for descriptive statistics, while Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was applied to assess both the measurement and structural models, ensuring rigorous evaluation of the hypothesized relationships. The empirical results reveal two significant positive relationships. First, instrumental support comprising practical assistance, resources, and guidance is positively associated with organizational citizenship behaviour. Second, emotional support encompassing empathy, care, and psychological encouragement also demonstrates a significant positive relationship with OCB. These findings confirm that both forms of support are critical drivers of prosocial employee behaviour beyond formal job requirements. This study contributes to the limited body of literature integrating Islamic leadership principles with organizational behaviour research in the Malaysian public sector context. By grounding the investigation in Al-Ghazali's framework, the findings offer practical implications for policy development, emphasizing the need for organizations to enhance co-worker support systems to foster balanced socio-economic dynamics and workplace well-being. The study reinforces that effective leadership, from an Islamic vantage point, extends beyond task-oriented management to encompass holistic, compassionate engagement with employees.
