Description
Education plays an important role in shaping one’s nation and its economy. The Ministry of Education in Malaysia has achieved many success in implementing education policies for all through the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025. Even though, student dropouts has been an issue in secondary schools in Malaysia. Is due to this, a research has done to study and analyse student dropouts in Sarawak using Geographic Information System. The objective of this research is to (i) identify the patterns of student dropouts in Sarawak. (ii)Analyse hot spot areas of student dropout in secondary schools. (iii) Analyse the correlation of student dropouts and the factors lead to this problem. The analysis methods used in this study are Global Moran’s Spatial Autocorrelation, GETIS ORD (Gi*) and Regression Analyse Ordinary Lease-Square. Findings of objective 1 shows that the pattern of student dropouts in Sarawak secondary schools (2013-2018) are in groups. Findings of objective 2 discovered that the hot spot areas of student dropouts falls under main cities of Sarawak which are District Education Office of Kuching, District Education Office of Sibu and District Education Office Bintulu.Findings of objective 3 reveals that student dropouts in Sarawak secondary schools has a positive interrelation with the factors that lead to student dropouts and happens randomly.
