Sabal Forest Reserve in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, represents an important ecological landscape that supports diverse flora and fauna and provides valuable opportunities for understanding forest biodiversity and ecological resilience. This study explores the biological richness and recovery potential of the reserve through observations and documentation from a scientific expedition, focusing on selected plant and animal groups, ecosystem characteristics, and environmental conditions. Particular attention is given to orchids, wild gingers (Zingiberaceae), endemic Iguanura species, and other components of the forest ecosystem, together with water quality and solid-waste conditions. The findings highlight the ecological significance of Sabal Forest Reserve as a habitat for diverse and potentially under-documented species. The discovery of new species during the scientific expedition further demonstrates the reserve's biological importance and the need for continued biodiversity research. Despite pressures associated with land-use changes and infrastructure development, the reserve demonstrates the importance of conserving remaining forest habitats and strengthening ecological monitoring. Overall, this work highlights biodiversity resilience as a foundation for conservation planning, scientific research, and sustainable forest management in Sarawak.
