Exports play an essential aspect in economic growth and development, through its multiplier influence, enlarge the production, employment and the balance of payments consequently affecting the achievement of economic growth. Currently Malaysia is facing two challenging negotiations, that include a free trade agreement with TPPA and a free trade area with the ASEAN + 6FTAs partners also known as RCEP. As the RCEP and the TPPA are considered as a contender in the South East Asian market, this is an extremely remarkable parallel issue. Hence, this investigation has assessed empirically to find out the determinants of Malaysia`s export to compare between TPPA and RCEP countries Free Trade Agreement framework to develop a new unique market as export target for Malaysia and as well to find out the major determinants of export as an economic growth engine. This paper examined the association among exports, and GDP per capita of Malaysia, GDP per capita of TPP and RCEP countries, Openness of Malaysia, Openness of TPP and RCEP countries, bilateral exchange rate and remoteness by employing the augmented gravity model to its 11- TPPA participants’ nations and as well 15-RCEP members by utilizing panel data from 1997 to 2015 and finally compare its export performance with TPPA and RCEP framework to determine which integration will better suit for Malaysia to avoid overlapping FTAs. By employing two augmented gravity equation, namely TPPA and RCEP model, the outcomes of this dissertation have been achieved. The results are based on FMOLS and DOLS estimator. Estimated results indicated that the influence of exports to RCEP countries produce a higher GDP growth. This outcome recommends that the development of RCEP has improved the ability of Malaysian to trade with RCEP nations rather than with TPPA members. It can be concluded from the results of FMOLS and DOLS estimators of the existence of a long run v relationship between the variables. This can be suggested based on assessed coefficients of the different sample, a stronger intensive long-run association between exports and economic growth RCEP countries than TPPA nations. Finally, results show that TPPA model indicated that, long-run coefficient of GDP per capita of Malaysia, Openness of 11-TPPA countries and bilateral exchange rate of Malaysia can explain Malaysian export. On the hand for RCEP model, in the long run, Malaysian exports can be explained by all the variables of the study. Nevertheless, this investigation will helpful for the policy maker of Malaysia to make adequate and relevant policy in order to promote exports between Malaysia and RCEP nations and as well contribute to the exports and economic growth literature
