Equitable distribution of teachers to schools is a significant challenge in education systems particularly in rural and underprivileged areas which shortage of teachers require a balance teacher preferences and school demands. This project proposes a Teacher-School Assignment Algorithm that optimizes teacher assignments according to subject and geographical preferences. The algorithm applies greedy approach to assign teachers to schools by prioritizing exact matches before using the category-based fallback mechanism. The effectiveness of the assignment algorithm was evaluated through simulated scenarios with different number of teachers, subjects and location preferences constraints. The assignment results generated by the algorithm show high assignment rates with high subject preference matches and moderate location matches among the scenarios. Besides, minimal school with no assigned teachers shows that the teachers were evenly distributed across the schools.
