| dc.description | This study aims to identify the level of school strategic planning practice and achievement of national secondary school students in the state of Sarawak. In addition, this study also examines the relationship and influence between strategic planning and students’ achievement. The strategic planning variables of this study are based on the seven phases of the process in the model of Hairuddin and Muhammad Bustaman (2009). While the students’ achievement variable refers to students’ achievement based on indicators in the “Standard Kualiti Pendidikan Malaysia Gelombang 2” (SKPMg2). This study is quantitative with a survey method that uses questionnaire instruments. A total of 135 National Secondary School principals were identified as respondents through stratified random sampling. The data of 130 samples was used and continued with descriptive and inferential analysis through IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. The findings of the study shows that the level of strategic planning of the study school is very high (mean=4.29) and the level of overall students’ achievement is high (mean=4.04). The results of the correlation test have found that strategic planning has a moderately strong and significant relationship with students’ achievement (r=.515). The findings of the study also show that each process in strategic planning is significantly correlated with students’ achievement. Besides, the results of the multiple regression test show that strategic planning affects students’ achievement by 31.6% through the implementation process of pre-planning and determining the direction of the organization. Therefore, administrators at all levels of education management should appropriately prioritize strategic planning to achieve organizational goals, especially in the aspect of improving students’ achievement. | |
