| dc.description | The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating role of CEO power on the relationship between green innovation and firm performance. The sample collected for this empirical study covered 6 years of data from 2018 to 2023. The top 100 public listed companies of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia in Malaysia are examined within the time period stated. A panel data regression model and two-step GMM are employed to reveal that green innovation and CEO power do not have a direct and significant effect on firm performance (ROA). However, CEO power plays a significant moderating role by enhancing the negative impact of green innovation on performance, suggesting that strong leadership influence may not always support the effective implementation of sustainability strategies, and could potentially lead to outcomes that are misaligned with financial performance goals. Even while the short-term effects are modest, as businesses progressively integrate sustainability programs with their strategic and operational objectives, the long-term potential of green innovation and CEO leadership may become more apparent. Based on these findings, future studies are recommended to use broader samples, extend the study period to capture long-term effects, and adopt more comprehensive measures for green innovation and leadership to better understand their financial implications. | |
