| dc.description | This study investigates the relationship between boundary management tactics and quality of life among employees in statutory bodies in Sarawak. Understanding how employees manage work life boundaries is essential, particularly in structured statutory environments where organizational demands and limited autonomy may influence well-being. A cross-sectional quantitative research approach was employed using a self-administered online questionnaire distributed to employees from a statutory organization in Sarawak (N = 80). Four boundary management tactics, namely temporal, behavioral, physical and communicative, were examined in relation to two dimensions of quality of life: emotional and social well-being. Spearman correlation analysis was conducted to identify statistically significant associations between the variables. Results showed that only communicative boundary management tactics were significantly and positively related to both emotional and social well-being, while temporal, behavioral and physical tactics showed no significant relationships. These findings suggest that open communication and mutual understanding about work-life boundaries are more effective in enhancing well-being compared to individually managed strategies. The study contributes to the work-life literature by reinforcing Clark’s Work-Life Border Theory and emphasizing the role of communication in maintaining employee well-being. Practical implications highlight the need for human resource policies that support boundary setting conversations and team level norms within statutory bodies. | |
